Logan Mayor Jon Raven Visits XROBOT Academy to Explore Robotics, AI and the Future of STEM Education
2 October 2026 | XROBOT Academy® | Logan, Greater Brisbane, Queensland

XROBOT Academy® was honoured to welcome City of Logan Mayor Jon Raven and his team on Friday, 2 October 2026, for a special visit exploring robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), aerospace engineering and hands-on STEM education.
During the nearly two-hour visit, Mayor Raven toured the Academy's engineering and robotics facilities, experienced interactive technology demonstrations, and engaged in discussions about emerging technologies and the future of engineering education for young people.
The visit marked an important milestone for XROBOT Academy, a technology education organisation based in Logan, serving families across the Greater Brisbane region.
Exploring Robotics and Emerging Technologies

Throughout the visit, Mayor Raven was introduced to a range of practical engineering projects and educational technologies, including robotic arms, AI-powered robotic systems, autonomous vehicles, drone technology, aerospace engineering and simulation environments.
A key highlight was the opportunity to explore robotic hand technology and embodied artificial intelligence, including systems designed to investigate how robots perceive, interact with and respond to the physical world.
The demonstrations reflected XROBOT Academy's commitment to connecting advanced technology with practical, hands-on learning.
Rather than simply teaching students how to use technology, the Academy encourages them to understand how engineering systems are designed, constructed, programmed and improved.
Drone Soccer: Bringing Aerospace and Teamwork Together

Mayor Raven also experienced Drone Soccer, an emerging team-based aerial robotics activity that combines drone piloting, engineering, coordination and strategic thinking.
At XROBOT Academy's dedicated indoor Drone Soccer arena, the Mayor explored the technology and had the opportunity to operate a drone using a remote controller.
Drone Soccer provides an engaging pathway for young people to develop an understanding of flight dynamics, control systems, spatial awareness and teamwork through practical challenges.
The activity forms part of XROBOT Academy's broader commitment to aerospace education and technology-based competitions.
A Memorable Conversation with WANDA: Robotics and Ethics

One of the most thought-provoking moments of the visit occurred when Mayor Raven interacted with WANDA, XROBOT Academy's AI-powered robotic teacher.
His first question was:
"Do you know Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics?"
The question referred to the famous fictional principles introduced by science fiction author Isaac Asimov, raising broader questions about robotics, artificial intelligence, ethics and the relationship between humans and intelligent machines.
The interaction highlighted an important aspect of technology education: understanding not only what intelligent systems can achieve, but also the responsibilities and ethical considerations associated with their development.
At XROBOT Academy, we believe future engineers should be encouraged to think critically about both the technical and human dimensions of emerging technologies.
From Robotic Systems to Aerospace Engineering

The visit also included discussions and demonstrations involving robotic mechanisms, engineering prototypes, autonomous systems and aerospace projects.
Among the projects presented was a multi-stage water rocket, designed to introduce engineering concepts such as propulsion, aerodynamics, mechanical design and experimental testing.
These projects illustrate how XROBOT Academy connects classroom learning with real engineering challenges, allowing students to explore the relationship between scientific principles, software, hardware and physical systems.
Through practical experimentation, students are encouraged to develop creativity, engineering judgement and systematic problem-solving skills.
Inspiring Young Engineers in Greater Brisbane

Several young students participated in the visit, contributing to the welcome and sharing in the excitement of the occasion.
Their curiosity and enthusiasm reflected the central mission of XROBOT Academy: to inspire the next generation of engineers, innovators and technology creators.
XROBOT Academy offers hands-on educational pathways across four key areas:
Robotics — Mechanical design, electronics, programming and robotic systems.
Artificial Intelligence — AI concepts, intelligent systems and emerging technologies.
Aerospace — Drone technology, flight principles and aerospace engineering projects.
VEX Robotics — Structured robotics education, engineering challenges and competition pathways.
Through these programs, the Academy aims to help children and young people develop technical knowledge, confidence, teamwork and practical engineering skills.
Connecting Technology Education with the Logan Community

The visit provided a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas about engineering education, innovation and community engagement.
As a locally based robotics and STEM education provider, XROBOT Academy aims to expand access to practical technology experiences for young people across Logan and the wider Brisbane region.
The Academy's educational philosophy is built around a simple principle: students should be encouraged not only to learn about existing technologies, but also to explore how they can contribute to creating the technologies of tomorrow.
A Meaningful Milestone for XROBOT Academy

Mayor Jon Raven's visit represents a memorable milestone in XROBOT Academy's development and its ongoing journey to bring advanced technology education into the local community.
We sincerely thank Mayor Raven and his team for taking the time to visit, experience our engineering projects and share thoughtful conversations about robotics, artificial intelligence and the future of education.
We also thank the young engineers who participated in this special occasion and helped make the visit memorable.
For XROBOT Academy, this is another step forward in a long-term commitment to inspiring curiosity, developing engineering capability and encouraging the next generation to explore what is possible.
